DIPRAcontrolThe DIPRAcontrol® Server is part of the DIPRA® Switch as the central management unit of the DMR Tier III radio network. DIPRAcontrol® transmits the telegrams using the packet data service on a DMR traffic channel. Telecontrol protocols such as IEC 60870-5-101/-104, together with intelligent compression methods, allow robust communication even across the narrowband channels of professional mobile radio.

The performance of any automation solution for distribution networks depends directly on the reliability of the data communication link between the control station and the telecontrol substations. The ability of modern digital radio systems to reliably manage their system resources thus becomes the key to the secure availability of mission-critical voice and data communication via radio.

When DIPRAcontrol® is used, the protection goals of DIN ISO/IEC 27001 are particularly taken into account for reasons of IT security. The protection goals according to DIN ISO/IEC 27001 are confidentiality, integrity and availability of data communication.

To ensure confidentiality, DIPRAcontrol® and RADIUM support encryption according to AES128 and AES256, the use of which corresponds to the recommendations of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). In addition, a Keyed-Hash Message Authentication Code (HMAC) is used to ensure the integrity of the transmitted data packets. Availability is determined by the system design measures of the DMR Tier III radio network. All radio network components can be designed redundantly to maintain mission-critical radio communication even in the event of system component failure. Similarly, alternative connection routes can be used in the event of malfunctions. The resource management of the DMR Tier III radio network automatically assigns another one if one radio channel fails.

The maximum number of RADIUM radio modems that can be used in a DIPRAcontrol® application is theoretically limited only by the available capacity of the DMR radio network. The number of radio modems in the supply area of a base station therefore depends on the number of installed radio channels and on the frequency and length of the telecontrol telegrams to be transmitted.

DIPRAcontrol® is highly scalable and is well suited for the gradual expansion of telecontrol.
